Tobacco Cessation Services
It's never too late to quit. Tobacco-related diseases are the number one cause of preventable death in the US today, causing 450,000 deaths yearly. Chronic disease such as heart and lung disease, hypertension, cancers of all types and diabetes can all be improved by quitting smoking.
Second and third hand smoke are extremely dangerous, particularly for infants and small children. Second hand smoke is the smoke that comes off the end of a burning cigarette. Third hand smoke is the sticky, high toxic smoke residue that settles into clothing, furniture, draperies and surfaces in the home and car. There are no safe levels of exposure to these toxins.
If you smoke and want or need to quit, Axis Community Health Center is here to help you. We offer face-to-face and phone counseling, as well as medications to help you quit.
